UV light is known to activate an important skin hormone called solitrol. Solitrol influences our immune system and many of our body’s regulatory centers, and, in conjunction with the pineal hormone melatonin, causes changes in mood and daily biological rhythms. The hemoglobin in our red blood cells requires ultraviolet (UV) light to bind to the oxygen needed for all cellular functions. Lack of sunlight can, therefore, be held co-responsible for almost any kind of illness, including skin cancer and other forms of cancer.
Then, on Monday, the Gas company inspector, who has been coming out regularly now, came out to be sure he was happy with the state of the gas. He opened the subfloor in the master bedroom, and was hit by gas! There was a 77% saturation in the subfloor under the master! The pipe had a kink in it or something! The workmen came back out and the inspector wouldn’t let him leave until they had tested the line together and then had inspected the rest of the house, again.
Another acquaintance worked for the local gas company. He encouraged me to call the gas company and request a free inspection of my stove and other appliances. I was so happy to know that they would perform this service and I scheduled an appointment as soon as I could.
When the gas representative came, he inspected all our gas appliances and our fireplace. The stove had a leak from the fittings in the back. It had been installed with an incorrectly sized fitting. Sadly, my friend’s good deed had gone wrong. It was a slow leak that had gone undetected for 3 years.
Since we learned about the gas leak we have found out there is NO TESTING FOR NATURAL GAS POISONING, there is for carbon monoxide poisoning, BUT THEY ARE DIFFERENT! Once my doctor learned about the gas leak he said that it had never accrued to him that this could have been my problem. I respect my doctor and his acknowledgment on family medicine but I’m sure as him and other doctors in our area have not came across any kind of illness like this before.
Just an update on the gas leak thing. We had the paramedics here last night! I was having so much trouble breathing, and we couldn’t get an answer on the CO count, so we were told to call the fire dept. Well, I sounded so great on the phone that we had 2 trucks and [...]
Then, one night in early September, I was sitting in front of the fire reading a book. I was really sleepy and my chest was burning, and even my face was itchy and burning. I kept thinking, what is wrong with me? By the time I finally got the strength to turn off the fire and go tell David that there was something wrong, I was really sick.
The next day, we called the gas company and they came out to check the gas and found a really bad leak in the valve that was next to the fireplace that was on! Ok. That’s scary.
So, they “red tagged” the house and the landlord had one week to fix the gas or they would shut down the building and no one could live there!
Now I sit me down in school

Sulforaphane, a compound derived from broccoli and broccoli sprouts, could help prevent or treat breast cancer by inhibiting cancer stem cells (CSCs), found a new US study. The anticancer efficacy of sulforaphane, derived from broccoli/broccoli sprouts, has been evaluated in various cancers and the risk of premenopausal breast cancer was shown to be inversely associated with broccoli consumption, they added.
