Life Extension Supplements

Filed under: Health Food Emporium — Gail @ 4:01 pm

Health Food Emporium has just started carrying Life Extension Supplements. I wanted to take a minute to tell our customers about this company and some of the reasons we decided to carry their products.

The Life Extension Foundation was officially incorporated in 1980, but its founder has been involved in research to improve quality of life since the 1960s. Life Extension’s main focus is actually to extend the human lifespan and reduce the effects of aging. Although I have some faith-based problems with the whole “antiaging” or “lifespan extension” philosophy, we decided that we cannot refuse to carry a brand’s vitamins because we don’t necessarily agree with their doctrine. Just as Garden of Life is a fabulous company for us because they are Christian, we chose to carry New Chapter products even though they were not a faith-based company (at least not the same faith as ours). The purpose has to be to bring our customers the very best supplements that we can find, and Life Extension and New Chapter both fall within that description.

Also, Life Extension is not solely “Whole Food” as are Garden of Life and New Chapter. However, they are a very well known research organization that has made tremendous strides toward fighting the FDA regulations and educating people about natural health solutions rather than chemical based prescription drugs. A large part of their research is devoted to finding the best, most absorbable, forms of nutrients; whether that be a whole food source or a pharmaceutical quality vitamin.

In 1980, Life Extension recommended that healthy people consume high doses of antioxidant vitamins to maintain their health. Since then, hundreds of studies have been published in prestigious journals documenting the role of antioxidants in protecting against disease.

In 1983, Life Extension recommended the use of low-dose aspirin on a daily basis to prevent vascular disease.

In 1983, Life Extension was the first organization in the world to recommend the Japanese cardiac drug coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) as an anti-aging nutrient. The use of high-dose CoQ10 in the United States is enabling people with congestive heart failure to resume normal lives because this nutrient significantly boosts cardiac energy output. High-dose CoQ10 also has been shown to significantly slow the progression of Parkinson’s disease — something that drugs cannot yet do.

It was Life Extension that first brought Melatonin to the public eye in 1992.

Life Extension is continuing to do research and produce innovative supplements that we cannot find from either of the other companies that we carry. For instance, Super Curcumin with Bioperine to control inflammation; or Zeaxanthin to protect your eyes; and Melatonin for natural antioxidation and help with sleep.

If you are a customer of Health Food Emporium / Whole Food Vitamins and would like us to carry a particular Life Extension product for you, please feel free to let us know at 888-244-8948.
